Edit Document Text - Help. :P. Use this screen to enter & amend the document displayed. All the screen between the header and command key footer is available for entering text. There is a limited word wrap facility, and lines can be split over two lines, to allow more text to be added, and individual lines can be copied, deleted, inserted, moved or overlaid. In addition, display attributes (such as highlight, reverse image & underline) can be added to improve the appearance of your document. If you want more than one page, just use the page keys to add extra pages (max 555 pages). :P. If you are using a PC, you can use the 'Cut & Paste' facility to drop documents prepared on your machine onto this display (18 lines at a time), and then add any attributes to finish it off. :XH3.F-Keys :IMHELP NAME=FKEY01. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY03. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY04. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY05. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY06. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY07. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY08. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY09. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY10. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY11. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY12. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY14. :IMHELP NAME=FKEY16. :IMHELP NAME=PRINT. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=ATTRIBS. Exit from the Edit Text screen. A prompt screen is displayed asking if you want to save any changes you may have made. The default reply is 'Y'es, but you can change this to 'N'o or ' ' to leave the document in its original state. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY04. :PARML. :PT.F4=Split :PD. Splits the line under the cursor into two, with text from the cursor position onwards being pushed onto a new line inserted after the original. Use this when you need to add text to the middle of an existing line. Use the word wrap key (F11) to join the lines back up afterwards. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY05. :PARML. :PT.F5=Move :PD. Moves a selected line to another location in your document. Position the cursor to the required line and press F5. The selected line will be highlighted. Now move the cursor to the new location and press F5 again to insert the moved line. Multiple lines will have to be moved singly (unless using a PC with 'Cut & Paste'). :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY06. :PARML. :PT.F6=Insert :PD. Inserts a blank line into the document. Positioning the cursor onto a line and pressing F6 will add a blank line immediately above the cursor line. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY07. :PARML. :PT.F7=Copy :PD. Deletes the selected line. Position the cursor to the desired line and press F8, and the line will be removed. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY09. :PARML. :PT.F9=Overlay :PD. Overlays a selected line onto another line in your document. Position the cursor to the required line and press F9. The selected line will be highlighted. Now move the cursor to the new location and press F9 again to merge the two lines. Characters from the original (highlighted) line will be moved to the matching location in the target line, providing that location is blank. Multiple lines will have to be overlaid singly (unless using a PC with 'Cut & Paste'). :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY10. :PARML. :PT.F10=Attributes :PD. Add display attributes to enhance the appearance of your document. This is achieved by using special Start & End characters to show the location for the display attributes. The default values are "{" to mark the start of the string, and "}" to mark the end. (These can be changed on the attributes screen if required, (by overtyping the "{" and "}" on the F10 window) to any other you choose, but only for the document you are currently working on). Insert the special characters either side of the text you wish to change, and press F10. You will see a menu of possible attributes from which one choice can be made. Just type the number of your choice, and the document will be updated with your selection. To remove the attributes, just overtype the spaces either side of the enhanced text. To add more than one type of attribute to a line will require this process to be repeated, once for each string of text. Note that some attributes will appear different on a standard terminal - Colours other than green, white & yellow on a PC screen/colour screen will blink on a standard monochrome terminal. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY11. :PARML. :PT.F11=Word wrap :PD. Adjusts the selected lines by truncating the gaps at the end of each line. If a word 'spills over' onto the next line, the entire word will be moved onto that next line. If there are no spaces between the last part of a string on one line, and the end of that string on the next, then word wrap will assume they are one continuous string (or word), and will join them up. To perform word wrapping, press F11 with the cursor on the first (or last) line of the paragraph then move the cursor to the other end of the paragraph and press F11 again. It does not matter in which order you select the start and end of the paragraph. This makes it easy to wrap a paragraph you have just typed, by pressing F11 on the line you've finished typing on, then press F11 on the first line of the paragraph. :LINES. Before: End of line ==> A sample paragraph to show the ability to use limited word wrapp ing to enhance appearance and readability is displayed here. After: End of line ==> A sample paragraph to show the ability to use limited word wrapping to enhance appearance and readability is displayed here. :ELINES. :P. Note that gaps elsewhere in the line will still remain, unless after wrapping they are placed at the end, in which case repeating the process will remove them. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY12. :PARML. :PT.F12=Previous :PD. Exit from the Edit Text screen. A prompt screen is displayed asking if you want to save any changes you may have made. The default reply is 'Y'es, but you can change this to 'N'o or ' ' to leave the document in its original state. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY12b. :PARML. :PT.F12=Previous :PD. Quits the Attributes window. No changes will be made to your document. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY14. :PARML. :PT.F14=Find options :PD. Press this key to bring up a window where you can enter a search string. You can also choose whether the search should look for an exact match, or to ignore differences due to case. To carry out the search, press either :HP2.F16:EHP2. or :HP2.Enter:EHP2.. To repeat your search, just press :HP2.F16:EHP2. from the main screen. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=FKEY16. :PARML. :PT.F16=Find :PD. Press this key to search through the current document for a text string entered on the :HP2.F14:EHP2. Find Options screen. Press again to continue the search. If the string is not found before the end of the document, then by pressing :HP2.F16:EHP2. the search will start at the beginning of the document again. :EPARML. :EHELP. .********************************************************************** :HELP NAME=Print. :PARML. :PT.Print :PD. Prints the document, formatted to A4. If you do not have the ability to send the printout to a printer, contact Operations. Note that highlight (bold), underline, or a combination of both are the only attributes that can be printed, and that depends on the selected printer. All colours other than green will be printed bold or underlined or both. The following list shows the print style that the display attribute options will convert to. :P.
